Marz grinned at Phil's course choices - they were courses that she would be taking too! And since none of her friends were taking them, she was worried that she'd be alone without a friend in courses with people she didn't really like. But now that Phil was possibly going to be in her class, she felt her spirits rise a bit. "Well you should totally take those three because I'm taking them too. And the government makes you take math and english, so that's already five of the eight courses covered! You only need to choose three more. I'd be totally willing to help you choose them."
Although Marz didn't really let it on much by her "I don't care about you cuz I'm a bitch" attitude, she loved helping people, which is why she hoped to be a social worker when she got older - she kept that fact under the wraps though, not even telling her friend Liberty, who she told pretty much everything. If word let out that Marz wanted to help people less fortunate than her... bad things would happen.

"Are you?" Phil said, almost surprised. He smiled at her now. "Then I suppose I will take those courses. Three more?" Now he thought for a bit. "Well, anthropology and entrepreneurship don't sound so bad. For another one, I'm not so sure about."
He liked how Marz was so happy that he was going to take the same classes. It really wouldn't hurt to have a friend around to speak to when he wasn't studying or anything. His parents would definitely think of it as an improvement. Though, he wasn't sure what he would think of this possible friend.

"Oh for sure - I only act like a total airhead, I'm much less... out there? On the inside, or at any rate, I'm interested in things - anthropology and entrepreneurship are great courses too... so you only need one more. Hmmm. That's a toughie buddy. Maybe an art? I don't know how into art you are but they're great courses to take - just a serious but a little bit more fun. There's a whole bunch of options... Media Arts, I took it last year, it wasn't that fun, but it was okay, I guess, Visual Arts, Jazz Band, that's the one I'm taking, Music & Computers, took that last year too - awesome course, and then there's always dance which apparently lots of people have fun with..." Marz finished all that off in a high-speed, hardly understandable babble, but she managed to slow down enough at the end so that Phil would at least have a hope of understanding the dance part.
Marz seemed to sparkle as she took Phil down the hallways as they spoke, every so often inturupetting their conversation to point out this room as one room or another, or that as being the "cold" water fountain rather than the "gross warm water" fountain and things along those lines. Marz was in her element - showing other people what it was that she loved and held dear.

"Well, out of those, I'd say.. dance or a music course. I've never been good at painting or drawing," He said. There actually were a few things he wasn't amazingly good at, but his parents didn't really favor the arts so much. They may be beautiful things, but Phil couldn't get much out of them.
Phil examined each thing that Marz pointed out briefly. It was a nice school, different than what he was used to, but a school none the less. The environment didn't matter as much(though it helped some), it was what he was being taught that really counted. School was obviously very important to him. No, it was important to his parents.

"Go with dance." Marz said wisely "Ms Janes teaches it - she's such a sweetie, plus you're new to the school and you get people even more off the wall than I am in Band and in Music & Computers. Plus, you're built well enough to pull off dance - take advantage of it." Marz continued to show Phil through the school, taking him up and down the stairs, introducing him to the people skipping class to "get a drink" and telling him her own personal thoughts on all the people they came across. Marz was certainly judgmental, and that was one of the things about herself that she wouldn't hide.
They continued walking "So Phil... Tell me. What are you thinking about Ywood thus far? You thinking that changing was a good choice?"
ooc; oyvey. writer's block.

Phil nodded and stated his agreement. He smiled to the people Marz stopped to introduce him to. Of course, being as polite as possible. He didn't know any of them personally(new, duh) so he didn't keep his sponsor's comments about them in mind. He just nodded at what she said, glancing about at the lockers and classrooms.
"Oh, I didn't choose to come here," He said as he examined a few posters. He turned to face her then. "My parents changed schools on me. I think Yorkwood looks okay. Not really what I expected my mother and father to put me into, but I will most likely do fine here if this was where they chose to place me."

Marz signed, rolling her eyes a bit at the parent comment - Marz personally had zero relationship with her parents (the fact that they were never home was a massive part of that) so she always felt a bit awkward, angry and jealous when she heard people talking about their parents and how their parents did this or that or whatever. She had turned out just fine without parents, hadn't she? Why would anyone else require parents? And why couldn't her parents care the way other peoples parents did? The concept of parents had mixed emotions for Marz.
"Well good luck with that." Marz said, a bit bitterly "You're lucky that you have so much faith in your parents and just assume that they mean well." - Marz's hostile side was showing up - her jealousy over Phil trusting his parents combined with that fact that it sounded very naive of him brought out her bad side."

Phil blinked, frowning some at her sudden hostility. "Of course they mean well. They are my parents," He said back, very uncertain and slightly upset at what she said. Why wouldn't he have faith in them? They care for him. They raised him and do all they can for him. That's the way it was for every child and parent. Was it not? He couldn't imagine how it would be like if he didn't have parents like his. He trusted in them completely, so he thought everything they did was ideal.
"I'm terribly sorry that I've upset you," He said to her. He didn't like make people angry or sad, or anything at all. He feels horribly bad when things like that happen. He never really means to do such things. He finds he often does things without noticing what the other person feels about it.

Marz sighed, upset with her slight outbreak at Phil - he was new to the school and she had almost just blown up at him. Way to give a good example. She clenched her fists and took a deep breath, pulling herself back into her usual self. "Echhh." she said, frustrated "Sorry Phil. Just, with parents like mine, you end up being a bit touchy on the parent subject... Sorry. It's good that you trust your parents. I wish I could."
Marz looked away from Phil, a bit ashamed at her outburst, and threw herself back into her touring - she couldn't let Phil, or anyone really see what was going on in her head. Her distrust /hatred/feelings of abandonment from her parents, her need for acceptance... it would never end up boding well for her.

Phil frowned some more at what Marz said. He didn't know anything to say, and besides, he had a feeling he could upset her again. He couldn't quite understand her feelings to her parents, though. What were her parents like? I how could she not trust them? It bothered him some, but he tried disregarding the thought. It was none of his business and he didn't have a purpose of knowing.
"Well, is that all? I think I have a good idea of this place," Phil said, glancing about before looking back at Marz. He had to cut through the awkwardness somehow. The tour, he thought, was good and over anyway. He had a nice view of the school basically.

"Yea I guess so - lunch starts in about 15 minutes, so go tell the office your course choices, go to lunch, and after lunch go pick up your timetable and go to whatever your class is, I guess....See ya around Phil" And with that, Marz walked off, leaving Phil behind to begin his new life at the school - she honestly hoped that he would enjoy his life at the school and come out better than he came in.

"Okay, thank you," Phil said to her with a small smile. He blinked, watching her leave. Then he sighed lightly and glanced around. Now, if he could just remember his way back to the office. He doubted that there wouldn't be any signs. So he turned around, going back to the office with the nice secretary and Lub.
